Dread Central reports:
In a recent conversation with Sci Fi Wire, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson got to talking about his role in the upcoming remake of Escape to Witch Mountain, cleverly shortened to Witch Mountain now. The action’s been upped since the 1975 original, “So now the action is badass,” the former pro wrestler told Wire, “It’s set … today in Las Vegas. And it’s awesome. So it requires a lot of preproduction, visual effects … [director] Andy [Fickman] wants to really create this world, this visually incredible world, inside of a mountain that will be the headquarters, Witch Mountain headquarters. It’s going to be amazing.”
Johnson stars in the film as a Las Vegas cab driver, an ex-con, who gets wrapped up with the two kids with supernatural abilities on the run from a mysterious orginization after they hop into his cab.
Shooting is set to start in March of 2008 with a planned release in 2009.
