While promoting the new suspense-chiller P2, in which she plays a young woman trapped and terrorized in an underground parking garage by a psychopathic admirer (Wes Bentley), actress Rachel Nichols took a few moments to discuss a couple more of her recent genre excursions with Fango. First she provides an update on THEM, an aliens-on-Earth pilot for the Fox network, executive-produced and directed by Jonathan (TERMINATOR 3) Mostow—which is apparently now in limbo. “THEM was a project that I loved, loved, loved,” Nichols tells Fango. “We shot it and it did not get picked up, and then Fox sort of said, ‘Well, we really, really like it. We want to tweak the script and do reshoots.’ So they picked up our options, and then nothing came of it. The pages haven’t been written, and I don’t think that will ever be making it onto a TV near you. I’m technically still under contract with them to shoot the show; they picked up my option in July and it runs out at the end of November. So I don’t really know!”
More concrete—i.e. in the can—is FOR SALE BY OWNER, a supernatural chiller produced and directed by Robert J. Wilson from a script by Scott Cooper, who also co-stars along with Tom (ALIEN) Skerritt, Frankie Faison (Barney in three Hannibal Lecter films), Skeet (SCREAM) Ulrich, Tom (THE HILLS HAVE EYES) Bower, Scott (BEHIND THE MASK) Wilson and Kris (BLADE) Kristofferson. “That’s a movie I did in Louisiana right after I wrapped THEM,” Nichols says. “I was unfamiliar with the idea of the lost colony [of Roanoke], which was founded before Jamestown—and then, when the male settlers left the colony to go establish Jamestown, they left the women and child to fend for themselves. When they came back, the settlement was completely gone. So it’s sort of the story of discovering what the lost colony is in the modern day. That one is more of a horror movie than P2!”
