Moviehole reports:
I don’t know about you but I thought “The Chronicles of Riddick” sucked. But then, it probably only sucked because there was too much money to play with, Vin Diesel’s ego had become inflated and the studio wanted their next big blockbuster franchise to start there and then. Its predecessor, “Pitch Black”, worked a treat – no big stars (at the time), not a lot of money to play with, and one helluva script.
Thankfully, creator David Twohy’s plans for a third “Riddick” movie might see the series return to it’s cheap ‘n’ nasty roots.
Over on his official site, the filmmaker said : “All I can say now is “We’re talking about it.” The DVD numbers were really good – we know that, and some potential financiers know that. But if another movie surfaces, it probably won’t be a Universal movie and probably will be an independent movie. Which means we’ll have to make it for substantially less than the last installment.”
Maybe he’ll even be able to convince Diesel to return for less than $5 mill?
