Entertainment Weekly sat down with producers Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek and Moritz Borman to ask them, straight-up, whether this new “Terminator” movie of theirs – yeah, the one without Arnie but with “McG” titled “Terminator Salvation – The Future Begins” and starring Christian Bale as Edward Furlong, or rather, John Connor – is going to be worth watching.
They seem to think it will be – but their jobs are on the line if it doesn’t perform, so of course they’ll say that.
Don’t count Arnie out just yet, though.
According to Kubicek: “He may make a cameo,” and according to Anderson: “It still hasn’t been determined, but if he does, it would be a very small cameo.”
Whatever the case, someone else will be filling Arnold’s shoes, “another major co-star with kind of equal presence in this instalment”, according to Anderson.
So… is that a new Terminator?
Says Anderson, “Yes…. Well, it’s hard to say. It is a new character introduced in the mythology that’s not replacing Arnold [Schwarzenegger]. It’s not like he’s stepping into Arnold’s shoes. It’s a completely new character.”
