Tommy Brunswick, director of LITTLE RED DEVIL gave Fango details and exclusive pics (shown below) from BORN OF EARTH, a horror feature she wrapped last October. “We are hard at work editing it,” says Brunswick of the flick, which stars Daniel (VAMPIRES) Baldwin, genre veteran Brad Dourif and James (THE NINTH GATE) Russo, and revolves around “mysterious disappearances in the town of Profit Hills, which inhabitants attribute to alien abductions, but which they soon find are…BORN OF EARTH.”
Elaborating on the plot of the film, scripted by newcomer Joseph Thompson and produced by Tommy’s husband Todd Brunswick, the director says, “Danny Kessler [Baldwin] loses his family one night to creatures that come from underground, who kill his wife and abduct his children.” To compound his problems, Kessler receives little assistance from the local authorities in the ensuing search for his offspring, as “the town’s mayor [Dourif] and sheriff [Russo] appear to be covering up the disappearances for profit. Five years later, though, the creatures return to take the whole town.”
The flick’s possibly cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers were created by Robert Kurtzman’s Precinct 13 company, as was the ensuing carnage. “Gary [MOSQUITO] Jones served as one of the lead effects guys on the shoot,” says Brunswick. She adds that as BORN makes its way through post, she and her husband are “very close to a distribution deal for LITTLE RED DEVIL, and we’ll have a trailer on-line soon.” You can visit the Brunswicks’ production house The Skeleton Factory on-line here and their MySpace page here for more info.
