Jorge Olguin, the award-winning Chilean filmmaker who brought us the Fango Video release SANGRE ETERNA (ETERNAL BLOOD) and ANGEL NEGRO, gave Fango some new exclusive pics and an update on his new horror film, DESCENDENTS (originally titled SOLOS/ALONE). “The movie is almost completed,” he tells Fango, “and the first teaser trailer can be seen at the official site. I’m hoping for the film to be ready in early February, and to premiere it in early 2008 at some international festival. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
While preparing his more expansive feature CALEUCHE: THE CALL OF THE SEA—to be produced by Guillermo del Toro and starring BLADE II’s Leonor Varela—Olguin managed to write, shoot and edit DESCENDENTS, which the trailer promises will be a truly dark and disturbing ride. Set in a dystopian world reminiscent of those seen in movies like 28 WEEKS LATER and CHILDREN OF MEN, the film centers on a group of kids who have to deal with a violent military—and then some. Described by the director as an “extremely violent and disturbing film,” it stars Camille Lopez, Carolina Andrade, Cristobal Barra and Karina Pizarro, among others, and was written by Olguin and longtime collaborator Carolina Garcia (who’s also involved in the screenplay for CALEUCHE). In charge of the FX are SANGRE ETERNA’s Carroza FX team, and Olguin even handled the production design.
