SHARK ATTACK – MEG Update

For those of you who don’t know what it is, MEG is a thriller about the 70-foot prehistoric Great White shark, which is based on the novel by Steve Alten.
The film has gone through many problems; originally purchased by Disney (Hollywood Pictures) the project was canceled after two subpar screenplays and Godzilla’s poor showing at the box office. But author Steve Alten has written his own screenplay, said to be on par with JAWS, and the Meg’s drawing power is worldwide. At least one studio and major film company are taking notice.
MEG also has developed a huge cult following among teens and is actually being used in classrooms across the country as part of high school and junior high English and reading curriculums. Adding fuel to the fire, YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) recently named MEG as the #1 choice for reluctant readers. Movie photos developed for Alten’s website and more movie info can be accessed on www.MEGSITE.com.
