Scotland’s Sunday Herald has reported that Joan Collins has replaced Vanessa Redgrave in Cowboys for Christ, the follow up to genre classic The Wicker Man.
Joan Collins will play Lady Delia Morrison opposite Christopher Lee ( who returns from the original) in the film, which begins production on April 10th and will be shot in the some of the same locations where the 1973 film lensed.
In the movie, a virginal gospel singer and her cowboy pal travel from Texas to Scotland to spread the word of God to the locals, and wind up on the estate of a laird played by Lee who’s not as friendly as he seems.
“They thought they’d broken the mold after we made the original Wicker Man, but they were wrong,” Hardy, who based Cowboys for Christ on his 2006 novel, he tells the site. He describes the movie as “another film with beautiful songs, sassy sex, a few good laughs and horror upon horrors ahead. We’re very pleased with the location and I’m very much looking forward to filming.” Lee adds, “The reason I want to work again with Robin is because he has written a book that is erotic, romantic, comic and horrific enough to loosen the bowels of a bronze statue.”
The site also reveals that Hardy plans a third film in the loose Wicker Man saga. And this one will be a comedy!
