Fango have received news that Reggie Bannister (‘Phantasm’) has been cast in James Felix McKenny’s (‘Automatons’) latest project ‘Satan Loves You’. And he’s not alone. The Reg-ster will be lining aside another member of the fantastic ‘Phantasm’ cast in the form of none other than Angus Scrimm. Their first time on screen together since ‘Phantasm IV: Oblivion’ back in 1998.
“’Phantasm’ is one of my favorite films,” McKenney tells Fango. “It’s the movie that introduced me to the work of Angus Scrimm, who we have used in three films so far [also including ‘Automatons’ and ‘The Off Season’]. This has been such a wonderful working experience that I figured I’d push my luck and see if we could borrow another talent from the Coscarelli pool. Reggie has such a unique screen presence and personality that it was easy writing for him. I don’t think his fans will be disappointed.”
A special collaboration between McKenney’s MonsterPants Movies and producer Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix, ‘Satan Loves You’ has been an ongoing project since 2005 and shot in segments along the way while writer and director McKenny could also concentrate on other silmultaneous projects. Which obviously include ‘Automatons’.
The final part to shoot will wrap sometime in June. And the makers are keen on getting together a sweet ensemble of genre faces. Don Wood, Christine Spencer, Christina Campanella and Fessenden himself are all currently cast.
‘Satan Loves You’ follows two people through their graphic struggles with the ultimate horror villain: the devil himself. “This is a very different type of movie from our earlier efforts,” McKenney notes. “Despite its Christian morality-play themes, it’s the closest thing to a straightforward horror film that I’ve done so far. I’ve abandoned my usual slow-as-molasses pacing in favor of a faster-moving film filled with sex, drugs, violence, gore and Satan!”
