3-D ZOMBIES AND EXPO
Variety reports that Disney, of all studios, is jumping into the zombie movie fray with THRILLA, to be directed by music video veteran Hype Williams and shot in 3-D! Williams script is set in Jamaica, where a group of (who else) 20somethings accidentally raise the walking dead and have to fight for their lives against the ghouls. Gavin (PANIC ROOM) Polone will produce the all-digital feature, with Stan Winston Studios Mark Crash McCreery in charge of designing the zombies.
And in addition to the first piece of 3-D news there LAs Egyptian Theater will host the largest dimensional movie festival in history when SabuCat Productions World 3-D Film Expo plays there September 12-21. The lineup includes 33 features and 21 shorts (some of which havent been shown in 3-D for five decades), with a solid helping of genre fare: HOUSE OF WAX, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and REVENGE OF THE CREATURE, Hitchcocks DIAL M FOR MURDER, IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE, GORILLA AT LARGE, THE MAD MAGICIAN, THE MAZE, PHANTOM OF THE RUE MORGUE, GOG and the schlock classics ROBOT MONSTER and CAT-WOMEN OF THE MOON! The movies will be presented in the 35mm double interlock Polaroid system (no red-and-blue glasses here); tickets are $10 per show, with a festival pass also available. Go here for more info.
