Makeup FX vet Dean Jones is taking his directorial debut duties to the upcoming slasher sequel ‘Toolbox Murders 2’.
Jeffrey Reddick (Final Destination) is now scripting. “The deal is put together, and there’s something on paper,” Jones told Fango. “Right now the producer is trying to work out some distribution deals. In a perfect world, we’d like to be shooting by May.”
Jones says that he and Reddick have figured out an easy collaboration on the sequel to Tobe Hooper’s redux of the 1978 slasher opus. “Right now we’re working together to come up with the story, I’ll throw in some ideas and he’ll write the script,” Jones says. He goes on to offer a few hints as to where the new ‘Toolbox’ is heading: “The story will pick up where the first movie left off. We will be bringing back Nell and her husband, plus a few other characters. The story will continue to take place in Hollywood. This time you will see more of the killer, there will be more murders and more of a backstory about where he’s from and how he came to be.”
