Director Joe Dante, the giver of such cult classics as ‘Piranha’, ‘Gremlins’,’The Burb’s’ and ‘Innerspace’, is at last coming back to the genre since his stint on the horror anthology series ‘Masters of Horror’.
Dante will be directing ‘Bat Out of Hell’ for Parallel Zide and VooDoo Productions. The script was penned by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan.
The film centers on a red-eye flight from L.A. to New York during which hijackers confront the monstrous cargo lurking in the belly of the fuselage.
Shooting is expected to begin later this year.
