The latest in a loooooong line of cult horror remake announcements brings ‘I Spit On Your Grave’ to the forefront of redux-ability. Based on the 1978 and very controversial Meir Zarchi movie about a recently raped woman who seeks revenge on all of her vicious tormentors.
CineTel Films have picked up the rights for the remake according to Variety and it will be produced by CineTel president Paul Hertzberg and Lisa Hansen, with Jeff Klein, Alan Ostroff, Gary Needle and Zarchi on board as executive producers.
“After seeing what was done with an R rating on films like Saw and Hostel, we think we can modernize this story, be competitive with what this marketplace expects and not have to aim for an NC-17 or X rating,” Hertzberg tells the trade.
Pitches from writers are now being taken.
