A new marketing campaign for Universal Pictures’ ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ will be hitting us next week. The new campaign will blend imagery from the latest movie in the franchise along with visuals from the upcoming China Summer Olympics, to be held in Beijing in August.
The campaign is trying to capitalize on the fact that both productions are set in China. It will being next Tuesday with an extended 150-second spot that will run during NBC’s ‘America’s Got Talent’.
The TV spot’s will include special effects that fuse Olympic footage with ‘Mummy’ scenes. One example of this is a backflip by actress Michelle Yeoh who morphs into a gymnast on a balance beam. And another will include a fight between Brendan Fraser and Jet Li who are then transported into a boxing ring.
The campaign will start in U.S theaters on July 18th from National CineMedia.
