E! Online have confirmed that both David Arquette and his sexy wife Courtney Cox will indeed return in the recently announced ‘Scream 4’ sequel. The pair will reprise their roles as Dewey and Gail respectively.
Arquette had this to say:
“We are going to be doing Scream 4,” Arquette tells the site. “Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct.”
Arquette says he “fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun”.
As previously reported Neve Campbell who played the lead role of Sydney Prescott for the original trilogy has turned down an opportunity to reprise the role this time around which has left writer Kevin Williamson with the job of writing an alternative script without her.
Although Arquette also mentioned that he is hopeful she might change her mind.
“I hope Neve does it. I really hope so.”
And the plot David?
“Kevin has sort of put out the broad strokes, but I don’t think I’m at liberty to share any of that.”
Well there you have it. Personally I think it’s going to have to do something pretty special to revitalise this franchise, especially as all aspects seemed to have been sewn up by the end of ‘Scream 3. Hmmmmm. What do you guys think?
