RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED FOR 'THE THING'

Earlier this month we reported that Brit actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje had joined the cast of 'The Thing' - the puzzling title of the prequel to John Carpenter's 1980 original remake 'The Thing'. Universal Pictures have announed that they intend to release 'The Thing' on 29 April 2011.

"At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. While Dr. Halvorson keeps to his research, Kate partners with Sam Carter, a helicopter pilot, to pursue the alien life form."

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (below), Joel Edgerton, Eric Christian Olsen, Ulrich Thomsen, Jonathan Walker and Kim Bubbs star, with duth director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. at the helm.
