This news is a few days old but hey it was my birthday over the weekend so everyone deserves a break right? News from the ‘now-overly-anticipated’ ‘Scream 4’ camp is that director Wes Craven has confirmed to MTV that ‘Scream 4’ is indeed a first in a new triology of ‘Scream’ movies! Which seems to be quite an interesting plan especially as it’s long before the fourth installment has even seen the light of day yet. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are all back once again (for this one at least), and if you’ve been living in a badly lit cave for the past few months you’ll be unaware that Craven has managed to cast literally every actor and actress in existence for this one hoping to cover all auidence bases no doubt. Joining the 3 regulars are Britt Robertson, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere (below), Rory Culkin, Marley Shelton, Nico Tortorella, Mary McDonnell, Anthony Anderson, Aimee Teegarden, Alison Brie, Erik Knudson, Marielle Jaffe. And cameos from Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell, Shenae Grimes and Lucy Hale.
“It is or was a planned trilogy. I think the studio is realistic enough to say, let’s see how it does.” said Craven. “But Kevin Williamson [the series creator and screenwriter] does have an idea for a planned trilogy out of it.”
“The studio wants to be very, very secretive about it,” Craven admitted. “I think it’s kind of known that Neve is returning to her hometown for a short visit, and all hell breaks loose. But there’s also a whole cast of new characters – there’s some very, very interesting kids.”
‘Scream 4’ is set to arrive theatrcially across the US on 15 April 2011. The project will soon enter in to the post-production stages.
