It’s that time of year again when the nominations for the 68th Annual Golden Globes are announced and although horror movies are ignored once again it seems that horror on the small screen is being recognised more respectfully. Showtime’s ‘Dexter’ is up for Best Drama and will be competing against AMC’s hugely successful zombie series ‘The Walking Dead’. Michael C. Hall also got a nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series. This will be the fifth time he’s up for the award and will be hoping to repeat his win from last year’s event. ‘Dexter’s Julia Stiles is also up for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men and The Good Wife will be the other shows competing to win Best Drama.
I’m pleased that Frank Darbont’s ‘The Walking Dead’ has been recognised so early on, especially as it was only a 6 part series. Personally I’ve only just got in to ‘Dexter’ myself (currently on Season 2), but I think it’s pure genius. Extremely well written and conceived and Michael C. Hall is fantastic in the part.
