New British ghost story tale ‘The Awakening’ is sitting in post at the moment giving its stars Rebecca Hall (‘The Prestige’, ‘Frost/Nixon’ and ‘Dorian Gray’), ‘The Wire’s Dominic West and ‘Harry Potter’s Imelda Staunton a rest from supernatual happenings in 1920’s England. The first image of a chilly looking Rebecca (below) has been revealed and you can check it out below. ‘The Awakening’ is the debut feature from writer/director Nick Murphy, who helmed the brilliant BBC drama ‘Occupation’ with James Nesbitt and Stephen Graham. The film co-stars Lucy Cohu, John Shrapnel, Diana Kent and Richard Durden.
“1921 England is overwhelmed by the loss and grief of World War I. Hoax exposer Florence Cathcart visits a boarding school to explain sightings of a child ghost. Everything she knew in unravels as the ‘missing’ begin to show themselves.”
‘The Awakening’ is currently in post-production.
