'Friday the 13th' and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' - two massive genre franchises have both been tarnished with the dreaded remake brush in the past couple of years. First we saw Marcus Nispel ('The Texas Chainsaw Massacre') try his hand at reinventing Jason Vorhees and then, more recently, (another music video director) Samuel Bayer giving Freddy Krueger an update. Neither, in my opinion, memorable or indeed worthy. However, I like many am still surprised that no sequels from either remake have yet to emerge. Last November word on the street was that  Warner Bros. Pictures were in fact moving ahead on their 'Friday the 13th: Part 2 3D' follow-up but this also appears to have fallen by the wayside. But, over the weekend producer of both Brad Fuller had mentioned that a 'Friday the 13th' sequel is ready to go, script and all. But they just need the go-ahead from New Line. Check out what Brad had to say below.

"I want to set the record straight on Freddy and Jason. First, lets talk Jason. [Damian] Shannon and [Mark] Swift wrote a great script. We are ready to go, when New Line is ready. But as of yet, they are not ready."

And 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'?

"As for Freddy, as far as I know, there isnt even talk of writing another script."

Nispel's 'Friday the 13th' remake involved all the following cliches...

"A group of young adults set up tent near the abandoned summer camp where a series of gruesome murders are said to have taken place back in 1980. The perpetrator was a grieving mother, driven insane by the drowning of her child, Jason, whom she believed was neglected by the camp counselors. As legend has it, the last survivor of the attacks beheaded the woman. But then Jason came back, and now he is a vengeful and inexorable killer, wielding crossbows, swords, axes and other sharp instruments. The legend proves horribly true, as these campers quickly discover. Six months later, the brother of one of those campers distributes posters of his missing sister. The police believe she took off with her boyfriend; but he knows better. The brother crosses paths with an uptight young rich guy who is having his girlfriend and friends over at his parents' cabin. The brother ends up at the cabin himself just before his sister's attacker sets upon them all."
