Nine Inch Nails front man and newly crowned Oscar winner Trent Reznor will in fact not be involved in Timur Bekmambetov’s (‘Wanted’, ‘Night Watch’) new action adventure ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’. The web was rife with rumours last week that Reznor would work on the soundtrack and also make a brief cameo in the movie as a vampire. Sadly though, from the man himself courtesy of the NIN message board, he will not now in fact be doing either. Abraham will be played by Benjamin Walker and he’ll be joined by Mrs President played by hottie Mary Elizabeth Winstead, as well as other stars Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie and Jimmi Simpson. Check out what Reznor had to say below.
Trent Reznor states:
“Don’t believe everything you read. As it turns out, I WON’T be working on (acting or scoring) ALVH after all. There’s no juicy story here, it’s just that when the news mysteriously leaked out about my involvement I hadn’t made up my mind completely, because various aspects of the project were changing. I felt the need to say something earlier this week because my inbox was filling up with speculation, and at that moment I thought I would be doing it. Confused yet? Apparently I am. Bottom line, I wish them the best with the film and I’m sure it will still be great. Also, in all the excitement of the last note I forgot to mention we’re still fully engaged with the Year Zero mini-series, writing away.
And here’s the plot for the Seth Grahame-Smith adaption:
“When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln. Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.”
‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ will arrive Reznor-less on 22 June 2012.
