In our second piece of casting news of the day ‘The Loved Ones’ Aussie star Robin McLeavy (below) is back in the ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ frame! A while back McLeavy was one of the favourites to play Abe’s wife, which part ultimately went to the gorgeous Mary Elizabeth Winstead, but now Deadline are reporting that McLeavy is set to play Lincoln’s mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln. She’ll be the vampiric murder victim that influences Abe to turn to vampire hunting in the first place. Dominic Cooper, Anthony Mackie and Jimmi Simpson also star alongside Benjamin Walker whom will play the title role. ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’, of course, is based upon Seth-Grahame Smith’s popular novel.
“When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln. Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.”
‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ is a mile off yet and won’t hit theatres from 22 June 2012.
