Well the gorgeous ‘Winter’s Bone’ star and Oscar-nominated Jennifer Lawrence may be a shoe in for the role of Katniss in the adapation of the Suzanne Collins novel of the same name, but just which guy is going to get to cuddle up to her? The role of love interest Peeta Mellark is yet to be nailed and the two most likely to grab the role are Brit actor Alex Pettyfer (‘Beastly’, ‘I Am Number Four’ and ‘Tormented’) or Josh Hutcherson (‘The Vampire’s Assistant’, ‘Detention’). I think Pettyfer (below) may be a better fit (to an extent) it’s just whether the filmmakers want him to be involved especially due to his reported ‘attitude’ issues on-set of his previous movies. Who does he think he is – Christian Bale!? Check out what Hutcherson had to say about the part below.
Here’s for Hutcherson had to say on the role on offer:
“The character is so much who I am—self deprecating, a people person. And he’d be such a great character to play!”
“HUNGER GAMES – the first in a novel trilogy by Collins – takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected at random and forced to participate in the Hunger Games, a televised event where the participants, or “tributes”, must fight to the death in a dangerous outdoor arena until only one remains.
The story follows fatherless 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose. Also participating from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a boy whom Katniss knows from school and who once saved Katniss’s life by giving her bread when her family was starving.”
Amazingly already set to release on 23 March 2012.
