‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ is helmer Timur Bekmambetov’s newest project and the Seth Grahame-Smith adaption has been handing out roles everywhere lately. With Benjamin Walker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (‘Death Proof’), Dominic Cooper (‘Mamma Mia’), Anthony Mackie, Jimmi Simpson and Robin McLeavy already under it’s bulging belt is there even room for more talent!? Well indeed there is at ‘Firefly’ star Alan Tudyk (below) has also been sworn in to the vampire slaying fun fest. Great news, in my opinion, I’m a big fan ever since his appearance in Frank Oz’s British comedy ‘Death at a Funeral’, NOT the dreadful American remake starring Chris Rock. Tudyk will play vampire ally, Stephen A. Douglas.
“When Abraham Lincoln was nine years old, his mother died from an ailment called the “milk sickness.” Only later did he learn that his mother’s deadly affliction was actually the work of a local vampire, seeking to collect a debt owed by Lincoln’s father. When Abe learned the truth, he vowed revenge and kept one passion hidden throughout his life: the brutal elimination of all vampires. His valiant, bloody fight against the undead was all but lost to history, until Grahame-Smith stumbled upon the secret journal of Abraham Lincoln. Using the journal as his guide, Seth reconstructs Lincoln’s life story and uncovers the role vampires played in the birth, growth, and near-death of our nation. You don’t know Abe. Honest.”
Abe and co are shooting in Louisiana and will hit theatres on 22 June 2012.
