New British sci-fi comedy ‘Attack the Block’ certainly has all the ingredients to make it a classic. It’s been penned by British comic Joe Cornish (‘The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn’, ‘Antman’). It stars ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Paul’ chubby funster Nick Frost and cutie Jodie Whittaker (‘St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold’). But most of all Big Talk Productions are behind it. They’re the guys responsible for such great flicks as ‘Hot Fuzz’. And early word from many sources is that the new alien invasion flick is pretty damn good so all in all it looks like thumbs up all round. The movie hits UK theatres next May and a new cool looking quad poster has been revealed. This marks Cornish’s directorial debut and stars Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker, Luke Treadaway and Joey Anash. ‘Attack the Block’ premiered stateside last week at the SXSW so fingers crossed for a pick up. Check out the new quad below.
“Sam is walking home in a scary South London tower block when she’s robbed by a gang of hooded youths. She flees when the gang are attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grab weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.”
