The second piece of ‘Dark Shadows’ news this week (and it’s only Tuesday!) brings us word on a new cast member for the Tim Burton TV adaption. Yesterday we reported that ‘Underworld’ actor Michael Sheen’s name has been thrown about the filmmakers for a possible role but it’s young actor Thomas McDonell whom gets the spotlight today as he signs up to play the young Barnabas Collins. Barnabas, of course, is the character that Johnny Depp will take on and McDonell is expected to play the younger version. No official word as yet on whether Sheen will take on a role but we think it’s a good fit so as long as his ‘Twilight’ schedule is free he’s a good contender. Jackie Earle Haley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Bella Heathcote, Eva Green and Burton’s wife Helena Bonham Carter also star. McDonell will be seen soon alongside ‘Scream 4’ star Aimee Teegarden in Disneys comedy flick ‘Prom’.
“The original series of ‘Dark Shadows’, created by Dan Curtis, spawned over 1225 episodes over the years and was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.”
