YOUNG TO SCORE EXORCIST IV
FANGORIA pal Dan Goldwasser over at Soundtrack.net broke the story that Michael Kamen has been removed from scoring Paul Schrader’s EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING and replaced by Christopher Young. Removing Kamen might be a good thing after his lackluster work on X-MEN is rumored to have resulted in Fox putting down an edict that Kamen will never again work on a Fox project (though EXORCIST is a Warner Bros. title). Young, on the other hand, should be no stranger to horror audiences, having done the brilliant scores for HELLRAISER and HELLRAISER II as well as countless other genre credits, including the music for THE DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD, NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2, INVADERS FROM MARS, TRICK OR TREAT, THE FLY II, HAUNTED SUMMER, THE DARK HALF, TALES FROM THE HOOD, URBAN LEGEND, BLESS THE CHILD, THE GIFT and even the TWILIGHT ZONE TV series from the mid-’80s.
Phew. It can’t get much more ‘genre’ than that for the Golden Globe-nominated composer (two years ago for THE SHIPPING NEWS), so here’s hoping he can help the movie that’s recently had its release date pushed all the way to February 4.
