Musician, actor, writer, director…there is surely no end to this guy’s talents? Jesse Dayton is currently hard at work in post-production on his new horror project ‘Zombex’. The movie heralds the debut feature from the Texan in which he both wrote and directed. The boys over at Dread Central were able to catch up with him recently to get some juicy gossip from the production of what sounds like a cool zombie ride. In addition to the interview they were also good enough to reveal some great new looking production stills, which you can check out below. Lew Temple, David Christopher, Malcolm McDowell (‘Halloween’), Sid Haig (‘The Devil’s Rejects’), Corey Feldman (‘The Lost Boys’), John Doe, Tom Araya and Kinky Friedman all star.
“I’ve always been a closet film geek,” said Dayton. “I actually watch about eight to twelve movies a week which I know is a lot but I just love the art of movies. I was born into music so it will always be a huge part of my life- It’s definitely just as important to me as filmmaking. What I can say about making movies is that I believe it is one of the last true vestiges where you can truly show your artistic vision uncut and I think that’s the biggest appeal for me as a storyteller.”

“ZOMBEX tells the story of a post-Katrina New Orleans as it deals with a new disaster, a zombie apocalypse. NOLA residents are no longer experiencing the depression and post-traumatic stress due to the trauma of the hurricane, thanks to the revolutionary ZOMBEX – a rogue, yet, “clinically-proven” anti-depressant pharmaceutical manufactured by a nefarious organization. For those who call the Big Easy their home, everything is just now turning around for them. Or, could it just be the drug, ZOMBEX, talking… Just as things are turning around for the city and its people, they once again must face a disaster of epic proportions. Only this time, they’re dealing with the prospect of losing the people of New Orleans as they turn into the city’s walking dead…”
