FEAR OF CLOWNS ANYONE?
There can never be enough films about the FEAR OF CLOWNS, we say, and thats the name of a movie in preproduction now at Marauder Productions, creators of the superior serial-killer flick HUNTING HUMANS (coming July 22 from MTI Home Videos Redrum division; see Fango #225, on sale July 15). Writer/director Kevin Kangas and actor/producer Rick Ganz encore on the new feature, about a woman who has suffered from coulrophobia (thats the fear of you-know-what) since childhood and works out her terrors by painting pictures of scary clowns. But things become more frightening when someone garbed like one of the costumed fiends in her paintings begins killing her friends.
Im a big fan of Hitchcock, Kangas tells Fango. My intention is to make a movie that has Hitchcockian overtones, but is a return to the horror movies of the 80s like FRIDAY THE 13TH and NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. Ive got a few scenes that pay serious homage to HALLOWEEN, which is a movie I love. Marauder is currently holding auditions (the company is located in the Baltimore, MD area), so those interested in trying out or just finding out more about the movies can click here.
