Variety are reporting that Kevin Bacon is set to join the cast of Dark Horse comic book adaption 'R.I.P.D.' (Rest In Peace Department). Bacon (below) will play the villain of the piece and will join Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Bacon is certainly no stranger to the world of the supernatural horror flick having already appeared in the likes of 'Flatliners' and 'Stir of Echoes' and has already gained bad dude experience as Nokes in 'Sleepers', Sebastian in 'Hollow Man' and of course more recently as Sebastian Shaw in Matthew Vaughn in 'X-Men: First Class'. 'R.I.P.D.' is based on the comic book by Peter Lenkov.
"Welcome to the Rest in Peace Department--the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement "patrolling the deadbeat ... reporting to one boss." Yep--THAT boss. Nick Cruz died an untimely death at the height of his personal and professional life. Why did he join the R.I.P.D.? Well, not knowing the identity of his killer has left his soul a bit ... restless. Now he hunts some of the most fiendish creatures, hoping for the chance to find out who set him up so he can get into heaven."
'R.I.P.D.' is expected to arrive in theatres from the 28 June 2013.
