In and around the Nottingham area this Halloween time? Then you're going to wanna be heading to Fear Friday, a horror themed day during the GameCity6 festival! The fest being held this October from 25-29 will see Fear Friday unleashed on the 28th and will feature a whole host of horror-related media, including games, film, novels, panel debates, performative events and even a zombie beauty pageant. Check out all the details and guests taking part which include Charlie Higson, 'Cockneys v Zombies' writer James Moran and Retro City Rampage developer Brian Provinciano.

The Fear
Aspiring writers can enjoy a reading from Charlie Higson’s new zombie novel, The Fear, a tense tale focusing on a small group of teens, fighting for survival after the world’s adults descend into ravenous horrors, intent on devouring the heroes. Higson will also be presiding over awarding the winners of our 'Who's afraid of GameCity' writing competition at a special event on the Friday evening.

To see the terms and conditions and enter the competition, go to http://gamecity.org and follow the instructions.

Cockneys v Zombies
Film lovers are in for a treat as James Moran, writer on a huge number of hits including Torchwood, Doctor Who and Severance, talks about his work on upcoming Brit horror flick, Cockney vs Zombies. Still in production, this is a chance for attendees to chew Moran’s brains during a Q&A session.

Scare Tactics
Writer James Moran, the developers behind iOS hit Papa Sangre and writer/commentator on violence in popular culture, Gerard Jones, will host a panel discussion to discover exactly how best to scare audiences - whether in film, books or video games...

Brian Provinciano’s Game Challenge
Retro City Rampage developer Brian Provinciano will undertake a three day game challenge with a twist. The public will be invited to draw, doodle, jot, scribble, scratch and generally get creative as they design a game. From 10am Wednesday 26th to 5pm Wednesday 27th, submit assets to create a very special horror game, set in the undead heart of Nottingham!

Design the city in your own image, fill it with monsters, ghouls, ghosts, zombies and anything else your imagination can conjure up, then see it come to life as Brian creates it from 8am to 3pm on Fear Friday.

The day also offers on a more ‘hands-on’ approach, with several craft events, including worldwide art phenomenon Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School dead life drawing sessions, become one of the undead with our zombie make up experts and take part in a zombie beauty pageant for the title and crown of Mr and Mrs Zombie.
