HIP HOP WITCH RECALL
Not that it will be especially missed, but Video Store magazine reports that retailers have been asked by Artisan Entertainment to return all copies of the companys DA HIP HOP WITCH, which was to see its VHS rerelease and DVD debut next Tuesday, June 17. Originally released by A-Pix in 2000, the movie is an urban spoof of Artisans hit THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, described by our own Dr. Cyclops back then as a shot-on-video fiasco and an unwatchable mess. No official reason has been given for the recall, but wed bet it has something to do with the fact that Artisan had re-edited the movie to give co-star Eminem (who tried to have his scenes removed even during its first release) a larger role, and focused its new ad campaign on the notoriously humorless but now very bankable rapper-turned-actor.
