Screen Daily have bought to our attention new survival thriller flick ‘Kalahari’. Writer/director Mukunda Michael Dewil, who is in post on his new thriller ‘Vehicle 19’ starring Paul Walker, will pen and helm the new desert based thrill ride which ‘Buried’ producer Peter Safran is describing as “‘Open Water’ but with lions and hyenas in the desert”. Ryan Haidarian, who is currently producing on Dewil’s ‘Vehicle 19’ will act as co-producer on the new project. The movie already sounds a lot like Darrell Roodt’s 2007 African reserve horror ‘Prey’ but then again it sounds a lot like many survival movies we’ve seen in recent years. Greg Mclean’s croc-horror ‘Rogue’ and to an extent even the housebound horror ‘Burning Bright’ with Briana Evigan (below) is peppered with these survival elements (maybe not but what a damn fine reason to treat our readers to a pic of Evigan below!). It would be nice to see Dewil bring us something a little different this time. How about killer Hippos, I mean they are pretty damn dangerous?
