Towards the end of last month the BVA (British Video Association) were reporting that John Gulager’s ‘Piranha 3DD’ would be skipping past UK theatres and swimming direct to DVD. Thankfully it appears that this report was a tad premature. UK distributor Entertainment Film have assured all us restless souls that ‘Piranha 3DD’ will in fact be heading for a run theatrically across the UK much like its planned theatrical run stateside. Danielle Panabaker (‘The Ward’, ‘The Crazies’), Chris Zylka (‘Shark Night 3-D’), Meagan Tandy (‘Unstoppable’), David Koechner (‘Final Destination 5’), Matt Bush, Paul James Jordan, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Hector Jimenez, Adrian Martinez, Ving Rhames, Paul Scheer, Clu Gulager, Gary Busey, Christopher Lloyd and the sexy Katrina Bowden (‘Tucker & Dale Vs Evil’) all star. Check out the official statement below along with the one-sheet and a simple still, taken from the trailer, which hopefully sums up the entire movie in a single shot and don’t forget to breathe a sigh of relief that we will in fact get to see the gorgeous Katrina Bowden in all her bikini glory.
“We would like to assure everyone that Piranha 3DD will not be going straight to DVD in the UK as mistakenly reported. We will be giving Piranha 3DD a full theatrical release, and the film will not be released on DVD until the usual window post UK theatrical release.”
And here’s the synopsis for the sequel:
“Having awoken from their spring break extravaganza at Lake Victoria, the swarm heads upstream where they look to make a meal out of Big Wet, a local water park where when it comes to fun, nobody does it wetter! Thought they came to get wet, get loaded and get some, the staff and patrons get more than they bargained for when they must face the fiercest, most bloodthirsty piranhas yet. Lead by the strong-willed, studious Maddy and her friends, Barry and Kyle, the trio must dive in and take on these man-eating creatures using every ounce of their being…but can they be stopped?”
