Empire Online have been chatting with Dan Aykroyd about just exactly what is going on currently with his proposed ‘Ghostbusters 3′ project. And the biggest piece of non-welcome news happens to be that old Danny boy may have to consider re-casting the part of Peter Venkman!! Yes that’s right it’s well documented that Bill Murray isn’t particularly keen on reprising his role (remember the script-shredding rumour!? – which Aykroyd has “denied with vigour”) and so this may be the only way around the issue. Good news though is that there definitely looks like there’ll be room for a return from actor Rick Moranis who played Louis Tully in both of the previous installments. Read below what Dan said about the whole Murray and script-shredding rumour below plus his words about Moranis’ involvement. Also don’t forget to click the link below to read the whole interview and make sure you leave a comment below as to who you think could possibly replace the great Murray!
“Bill Murray is not capable of such behaviour.” says Aykroyd. “This is simply something that would not be in his nature. We have a deep, private personal relationship that transcends business. We communicate frequently and his position on the involvement in Ghostbusters 3 has been made clear and I respect that. But Bill has too much positive estimation of my writing skills to shred the work.”
“If we can get the script to Ghostbusters 3 right, then it would definitely have Moranis as a major component.” says Aykroyd “None of us would want to do the movie without having him as a participant.”
