Anchor Bay Films have acquired the North American distribution rights to Amy Heckerling’s (‘Clueless’) new vampiric comedy ‘Vamps’. Anchor Bay are aiming for a Halloween-timed release for the new feature which stars the gorgeous Alicia Silverstone (below) and Krysten Ritter. The Lucky Monkey Pictures and Red Hour Films production should bring a little humour to a cinematic vampire experience which has been bogged down greatly in emotional manipulation in recent years. The story is helmed by Heckerling who directed from her own script. ‘Vamps’ also stars Sigourney Weaver (‘Aliens’, ‘Red Lights’), Richard Lewis (‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’), Malcolm McDowell (‘Halloween’) and Wallace Shawn (‘Toy Story’). Check out the ‘Nice Girls Suck’ poster artwork below.
“Beautiful vampires Goody (Silverstone) and Stacy (Ritter) have been enjoying the good life in New York City. As upstanding, politically correct Extended Life Forms (ELFs), the pair hit a support group, “Sanguines Anonymous,” to help curb the temptation of human blood in between their clubbing and dating schedules. When love steals into each of their lives, the pair’s destiny is set on a new course and they must make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality—and maybe much more.”
