As if a trio of directors such as Alfonso Cuaron (‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (‘Babel’) and even David Cronenberg (‘The Fly’, ‘Videodrome’) hadn’t already got you drooling it seems that they’re not the only helmers to be considered for the directorial duties aboard ‘The Hunger Games’ follow-up ‘Catching Fire’. According to The Playlist two new directors are also in line for the potential directing gig and they are Bennett Miller (‘Moneyball’) and Francis Lawrence (‘I am Legend’). The site is reporting that the new two are actually in conversations about the job whereas the other 3 fore-mentioned filmmakers may just turn out to be ‘wishlist’ bound. ‘Catching Fire’ is based on the sequel novel by author Suzanne Collins and is expected for a November 2013 release.
“The sequel to the 2008 bestseller continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and the fictional, futuristic nation of Panem. Due to the events of the previous novel, a rebellion against the ruling Capitol has begun, and Katniss and fellow tribute Peeta are forced to return to the arena in a special edition of The Hunger Games.”
