EXORCIST MAKERS TO SUE
Another lawsuit filed by the makers of ‘The Exorcist’, William Peter Blatty (author of the novel) and William Friedkin (director of the film) has surfaced.
The two are suing Warner Bros. for selling the rights for the film to their sister cable television networks, TNT and TBS, for purposes of the remake (mentioned yesterday). Attorneys for the duo state the studio made hundreds of millions of dollars that the men never saw, while the studio is saying the two were hired for a service and were paid for that service alone.
Touchy one. Blatty did write the book, so you really can’t make a remake of ‘The Exorcist’ without using his source material, which means he should see some of the profit.
No matter who wins, the fact that there are plans to remake ‘The Exorcist’.
