Jackie Earle Haley may have been off the acting map for over a decade but in the past few years he has certainly found his feet once again. After appearing in Steven Zaillian’s ‘All the King’s Men’ and Todd Field’s 2006 drama ‘Little Children’ the actor was soon landing roles in all sorts of mainstream cinema once again such as becoming the new-look Freddy Krueger in the subpar remake of ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’. Now already with Zack Snyder’s ‘Watchmen’, Martin Scorsese’s ‘Shutter Island’, Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’, and the upcoming Steven Spielberg biopic ‘Lincoln’ under his belt the 51-year old star has landed another notable role in Jose Padilha’s new ‘RoboCop’ reboot. The back in form Haley will join Joel Kinnaman (‘The Darkest Hour’), Gary Oldman (‘The Dark Knight Rises’), Samuel L. Jackson (‘Deep Blue Sea’), the sexy Abbie Cornish (‘Sucker Punch’) and Hugh Laurie (‘House’).
“In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.”
‘RoboCop’ is set for a theatrical release from 9 August 2013.
