ARE LIONSGATE SET TO RESURRECT JIGSAW FOR 'SAW' REMAKE OR REBOOT?

You can't keep a successful horror franchise down for too long. And that may just be the case for Lionsgate's 'Saw' franchise. After a mere 6 year run and 7 installments the most financially successful genre franchise of all time looks set to make a reappearance into theatres. Bloody Disgusting have heard from a reliable source of theirs that the studio is currently toying with idea of 'reboot'-ing or sequelising the series. The co-creation of filmmakers James Wan and Leigh Whannell ('Insidious') may be heading back to theatres but no official word has been released as yet. Although with box office success, DVD and Blu-ray sales, theme park rides, video games and every other spin-off possible its hard to ignore a cash cow like 'Saw'. The series which ensured each and every chapter was tightly connected with characters, recurring characters, nods and overlapping timelines may have started to weaken towards the end but was still overall a surprisingly consistent and well executed series of horror shocks and thrills. And that uniqueness and success hasn't remotely been replicated in any other horror series to date.

The word reboot is scary and its perhaps a little too early to start dissecting a rumour but if it happens what would you prefer? A direct sequel further unravelling what we thought we knew about Jigsaw and his 'work' or a complete do over? Perhaps son of Jigsaw? Nah....
