SATAN’S LITTLE HELPER COMING
As his nature-amok classic SQUIRM crawls toward its August 26 special-edition DVD release, writer/director Jeff Lieberman is currently preparing to shoot his latest horror project, SATANS LITTLE HELPER. The title kind of tells you a lot, Lieberman informs Fango. A little boy whos obsessed with the video game of the title is dressed as its lead character for Halloween. He finds a man in his area who fulfills his image of Satan and teams up with him, and together they wreak all kinds of havoc in this small town. If you can imagine what Satans little helper can do, then you have the movie.
Its a real Jeff Lieberman horror film in every sensesick humor, and its pretty damn scary, he continues. Theres nothing supernatural in this movie; its all realistic. The kid is obsessed with the game, and in a way its like the game coming to life, but its not #really# coming to lifeits about his inability to differentiate fantasy violence from real violence.
Produced by Aimee Schoof and Isen Robbins, SATANS LITTLE HELPER rolls August 9 in the New York area. Were going to shoot it on 24p hi-def videoits the best kind you can use, Lieberman says. Its being privately funded, with distribution to come later, but Im pretty encouraged by the reaction Im getting so far to the project. Keep your eyes here and on the pages of Fango for more coverage.
