Brian De Palma’s (‘Carrie’) new erotic thriller ‘Passion’ is nearing a domestic acquisition from IFC Films. The film debuted at this months Toronto International Film Festival leaving audiences with mixed emotions but nevertheless the studio has seen potential in the title and is trying to snag the rights immediately. The sensual tale stars a couple of exceedingly nice players in the shapely forms of Rachel McAdams -below (‘Mean Girls’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’) and Noomi Rapace (‘Prometheus’, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’). The flick co-stars Paul Anderson (‘A Lonely Place to Die’), Karoline Herfurth (‘Errors of the Human Body’) and Rainer Bock. Upon picking up the movie hopefully an official release date will follow shortly after.
“When Christine, a powerful executive, brings on a naive young ingénue, Isabelle, as her assistant, she delights in toying with her naivete and teaching her hard lessons in a ruthless professional philosophy. But when the protege’s ideas become tempting enough for Christine to pass one as her own, she underestimates Isabelle’s ambition and cunning– and the ground is set for all out war. In this devilish, propulsive thriller, Corneau sets up a the scenery expertly and his actors devour it.”
