WRITERS TAKE ON ALIEN PRISON
Face/Off writers Mike Werb and Michael Colleary will take on the Columbia Pictures sci-fi drama Alien Prison.
Werb and Colleary will be reworking a draft by Air Force One scribe Andrew Marlowe, and it is not coincidental that the producers are engaging writers of tentpole pics. Alien Prison will be a big-budget film about a gang that plots an escape from their alien captors. The prisoners then hope to prevent a full-scale invasion of Earth.
‘I’ve always liked the POW movie genre, where ‘Bridge Over the River Kwai’ or ‘Stalag 17′ show the nature of humans to resist captivity at any cost,’ Wick told Variety. ‘I think we’re tired of WWII movies, but this idea is given vitality by setting it in space. We already have several major directors interested.’
The duo also scripted the upcoming transcontinental railroad epic Men of Iron for Face/Off helmer John Woo.
