British director Ben Wheatley (‘Kill List’) who is fast earning himself a place in my favourite directors list may be waiting with bated breathe for the upcoming release of his latest black comedy project ‘Sightseers’ but he’s already hard at work on his next horror offering. ‘A Field in England’ is the name and terror is truly its game. The first official photo from the production has arrived, courtesy of Film4, which you can head below to check out. Wheatley helms from a script penned with Amy Jump and the project stars ‘The Mighty Boosh’s Julian Barratt, ‘The League of Gentlemen’s Reece Shearsmith, Peter Ferdinando, Ryan Pope, Richard Glover and Wheatley’s ‘Kill List’ co-star and funnyman Michael Smiley.
“In the war-torn English countryside in 1648, a small group of deserters flee the raging battle through an overgrown field. They are captured and forced to help one of their captors in his search to find hidden treasure he believes is buried in the field. The group descends into a chaos of arguments, fighting, and paranoia, and as it becomes clear that the treasure might be something other than gold, they gradually become victim to the terrifying energies trapped inside the field.”
‘Sightseers’ will arrive in UK theatres from 30 November.
