Welcome news to many a fan of the franchise and that wasn’t all that Chris stated in a recent announcement.

Chris told Collider:

“I would love to do it, I wrote a script, so there is an existing script. We’re working out some rights issues right now, so we’re just trying to figure out when the best time to make that film would be. I would still do it the same way I would do it as tangible puppets, not CGI. Maybe having you know we had one stop-motion scene in the first Gremlins, but I don’t think I’d use much CGI in Gremlins 3.” 

Screenwriter, Carl Ellsworth was also excited about the upcoming project and insists he wants to keep Gremlins a horror movie, nothing more, nothing less.

He said:

“These little creatures what they’re really doing, they’re cold-blooded little murderers, you know? They’re psychotic little creatures that are killing everybody. So that’s where it all started. I tried to preserve the humor, but at the same time, I was starting with the foundation of this being a horror movie, which I was really thrilled about.” 

We wouldn’t have it any other way and this gives fans a big sigh of relief knowing that the originals will be respected.

The upcoming Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Productions release will simply be called ‘Scream’.

Kevin posted the following statement on Twitter in regards to the production wrap today:

That’s a wrap on Scream, which I’m excited to announce is the official title of the next film!

Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans.

I’m excited for you to return to Woodsboro and get really scared again. I believe Wes would’ve been so proud of the film that Matt and Tyler are making.

I’m thrilled to be reunited with Neve, Courteney, David and Marley, and to be working alongside a new filmmaking team and incredible cast of newcomers that have come together to continue Wes’s legacy with the upcoming relaunch of the franchise that I hold so dear to my heart.

See you in theatres January 2022.

Certainly lacking in the creativity department when it comes to the unoriginal title we’re positive that this self aware movie will somehow reference its own title as its a franchise very fond of providing audiences with various horror movie deconstructions.

Slaughter House

Easily the best of the bunch but certainly a maze that paid more respect to social distancing.

All actors were absolutely miles away from you and whilst this did dettach you from the scares you could appreciate the theming more and the acting was certainly the most intense as despite the distance they went over the top with providing a cool engaging experience.

With Spooky World being based on a farm the metal shed farm buildings certainly matched this maze perfectly.

The scene was already set and the maze stood out head and shoulders above the rest.

Carnevil

A crazy clown maze complete with UV painted walkways and intense strobe lighting and effects.

Carnevil was packed full of actors going out of their way to embrace their inner crazy.

Whilst once again this maze wasn’t scary there was certainly a lot more happening around you.

Being inside a metal shed they had disgused the environment quite well with narrow corridors and minimal theming that drawed you in to the next room.

The second I entered the maze I had a jump scare which is rare for me within a scare maze so for that reason alone this maze is placed a solid second on my Spooky World 2020 maze list.

It was like walking through the equivalent of a bad horror remake but it was certainly a step above the next few attractions at this years event.

Haunted House

This was certainly a maze where a name change would be most appropriate.

The maze didn’t resemble a house (just a metal shed) and there were no rooms of any kind to walkthrough.

Every scene was quite jumbled and all over the place and whilst the acting was good in parts (especially a plague doctor scene) the theming was mostly poor and the atmosphere was severley lacking.

Quite a disappointing maze but certainly not the biggest disappointments of the evening as they were to come.

Field of Screams

Now this maze had potential.

Situated in a corn field you must navigate the field as various creatures would jump out as you walked around.

However, on our runthrough the muddy, soggy corn field maze had just 7 actors inside throughout our 9 minute walkthrough.

For 9 minutes we were just walking around an empty cornfield in the dark with a torch just trying not to slip over.

A severley wasted opportunity and a huge waste of time.

Haunted Hayride

Jumping on board the back of a tractor was a cool experience but driving through forest and dark fields for 10 minutes wasn’t the haunted experience this was billed to me.

At various intervals we were sprayed with water and at the end we were actually jetwashed but that was about it.

More missed opportunities and an overall dull and uninspired experience.

Tunnel of Terror

Into a dark tunnel we went, two flashlights in our face and a popper hitting the floor creating a nice bang and out the other side we came.

How on earth this was listed as an attraction is beyond me.

Truly the worst scare maze / attraction i’ll ever experience.

Tunnel of Terror was truly, truly awful.

Now when it comes to scare mazes one run-through can be phenomenal for some and abysmal for the other so I’ve tried to be fair in my assessment even though we only did one run-through of each maze.

Your experience may be completely different than our own but we can only review what we experienced ourselves so with that said, here’s our ranking (even though we loved them all).

Altonville Mine Tours

With socially distanced scares done to perfection, Altonville Mine Tours was as claustrophobic as ever but this year guests were not allowed to wear helmets with torches on to guide them through the maze.

This made the maze much darker and added more shadows into the mix for actors to jump out.

We received more jump scares in this maze than any other throughout the day and with superb theming and the actors on point throughout it was the most enjoyable.

Darkest Depths

If we were ranking these mazes based on scare factor Darkest Depths would be at the bottom.

It’s a child-friendly experience so naturally, the scares are going to be limited as a result.

We are reviewing this maze on overall experience from acting to theming and maze progression.

Entering via The Smugglers Inn we were told the story of the Mutiny for boarding the ship itself.

We came under attack and through every beautifully detailed room we walked through the progression of how far we were sinking was becoming clear.

With water and lighting effects fully immersing you in the story and even scents throughout each room weaving the story this was a complete experience.

Absolutely fantastic and so glad it returned for its second year of Scarefest.

Freak Show: Toxic Junkyard

As we had brought a combo ticket for a 2pm slot we had to complete this outdoor maze in the day time (always remember to read the fine print).

The maze was incredibly detailed from the outdoor signing to the crazy clown junkyard contained within.

When walking through you could see where every actor was and where the jump scares were as it was in broad daylight but it was clear to everyone just how good this maze would be at night.

With various lighting dotted around the place, potentially UV, smoke effects raring to go this would no doubt be the top of the list had we done the maze at night.

Sadly, the maze sold out as we returned to do a night run-through which was a shame as it looked insane at nighttime and the smoked mixed with the darkness of the sky would have hidden all of the actors in their zones ready to strike.

Such a wonderfully strong addition to the Scarefest line-up!

The Attic

Not a great experience through The Attic this year.

Last year I had just the one jump scare but the detail is still rather wonderful.

During our run through many of the lights didn’t seem to be on and we were in total darkness for large portions of the maze.

We walked into a few walls, ended up in a few actors chambers (the space before they jump out) and got completely disorientated more than once as you couldn’t see even 2 feet in front of you.

The earlier pre-show room was great if albeit the effects were drowning out the actor delivering his dialogue but as the maze went on the detailing of the rooms deteriorated.

Sadly not a great experience through this particular maze and that’s why it’s a rock bottom last on our list.

We did hear reports that people had a much better experience later in the day though so it looks as though the early problems (we were the first group inside the maze) had been resolved.

Overall

Scarefest at Alton Towers this year was a strong line-up indeed especially given the current circumstances.

The fact that Alton Towers have not only put on indoor mazes but made them socially distanced without decreasing the scare factor is impressive indeed.

Alton Towers have made more effort than any other park when it comes to Halloween attractions this year and it looks to have paid off.

A phenomenal event.

The best one yet!

With 2020 completely written off for the most part it was touch and go whether or not we’d see any scare attractions open over the Halloween season.

As the weeks went by one after the other big Halloween events were announcing their cancellations.

This year’s scare season looked all but dead until…

Through the uncertainty fog came glimmers of light as theme parks such as Alton Towers and Thorpe Park announced their Halloween events were going ahead as planned.

Chessington and Legoland soon followed, Merlin Entertainments saved the day but what about the independent mazes?

Arguably the best mazes? The most intense mazes.

Well one of those companies who have been approved to go ahead with their planned events this year is Scare Kingdom.

Scare Kingdom sent us a beacon of hope by announcing 5 mazes and 2 scare experiences for the 2020 season and we headed down last night to opening night and we were blown away.

So much so that you just HAVE to head on down this Halloween if only to recover from this god awful year!

1. It’s Open and COVID Compliant 

The fact that Scare Kingdom is even open and going ahead is a miracle in itself.

With social distancing measures in place throughout the mazes and with certain removals of particular elements of each maze the scares are still right up there with some of the best mazes i’ve been in even before this pandemic madness.

Masks must be worn at all times throughout each maze and hand sanitiser is placed at every maze entrance with characters reminding you to cleanse before you enter their lair.

Only each bubble is allowed in at any given time. We went on a quieter opening press night but i imagine bubbles may extend queue times but trust us when we say they’re worth the wait.

2. Each Maze Is Insanely Detailed and Each Character Has A Rich Backstory 

Yes you heard me correctly, every character within Scare Kingdom has a rich backstory that is woven into the maze that they inhabitant.

The mazes themselves are so heavily themed they wouldn’t look out of place at a Universal Halloween Horror Nights.

Manormortis and Boby Snatchers: Chamber of Horrors are two of the most detailed scare mazes i’ve ever seen in my life.

Blitz: The Hunger has zero theming BUT the way in which you navigate the maze is the unique selling point and the bland nature of the maze fits the backstory of this particular experience well.

With aromaprime scents creating the atmosphere you may just take a second or two to look around you and truly appreciate just how beautiful some of the mazes truly are!

3. Socially Distanced Scares Work

Whether it’s a door slamming to the side of you, or a creature hiding in the depths ready to pop out Scare Kingdom have proved that scare mazes can work in this new world we’re adapting to.

Each actor had a distance between us and I was worried it may dampen the experience especially if they’re not able to get up close to you but I was wrong.

We had actors behind and in front of us at times and as they were closing in (at a safe distance) we had to dart down corridors or head down alternative routes.

I really enjoyed this as I rarely feel nervous or tense in a scare maze but this cornering technique worked well and some extra loud jump scares also did the trick!

4. It’s A Throughly Enjoyable Night Out 

With five scare mazes and 2 experiences there’s certainly enough to keep you occupied. 

It took us 90 minutes to do the full experience from start to finish with Psychomanteum being the optional and only upcharge attraction charged at £6 per body.

Should you decide to do it or not you exit outside to a bar area serving alcohol drinks and food.

There are many spaced out tables within this courtyard and scare actors are serving your food and drink.

You order at the bar and then they bring it on over to your table.

Naturally the bar closes at 10pm due to new laws but you’re out of the house, you’ll most definitely have fun and the atmosphere is incredible and COVID secure.

5. Psychomanteum Is A Twisted Experience That Must Not Be Missed!

The 18+ experience rated ‘The UK’s sickest attraction’ is back again for 2020 with their new incarnation ’Scared Stiff’.

Whilst admittedly the experience is considerably toned down as a result of the pandemic it’s still worth a visit to check out the absolutely weird and downright twisted events that happen within the maze.

This experience isn’t for the faint hearted or the easily offended.

Whilst I didn’t feel it was worth the £6 upcharge it was certainly a unique experience that made me leave feeling a little dirty, but a little awesome at the same time.

But i’m a bit twisted so if you’re that way inclined too then check it out, I dare you.

Viewing numerous videos of Saints and Sinners another Walking Dead VR experience I was rather excited to be allowed the opportunity to test out the latest Walking Dead VR experience, Onslaught.

The Walking Dead is easily one of the most popular horror franchises over the last decade and developers Survios have collaborated with AMC to bring some of your favorite characters within this VR experience.

Rick, Michonne and Daryl all appear in VR wonder as you spend most of your time exploring the detailed environments.

Granted the environments aren’t as visually appealing as those in Saints and Sinners as it feels as though Onslaught dials almost everything back for a good old fashioned smash and grab type game.

After an initial tutorial allowing you to get to grips with the controls, you can follow a story-driven campaign or head off on Scavenger hunts.

The second Daryl appeared on the screen I jumped into Chapter Seven on a scavenger hunt and completely missed out 6 previous chapters. A glitch? A noob mistake? Who knows, but I headed off on a hunt to try out my newly learned skills.

Badly.

The movement within VR really gets me, my character is moving forward whilst I’m standing still and after a good 5 minutes of gameplay my headache gets so strong I’m pretty sure I’m developing superpowers.

Thankfully there is a transport mode that allows you to stand still and jump forward to another location thus making the whole headache-inducing movement more tolerable.

This movement also happened to be my downfall as I kept transporting too close to zombies for them to chow down on me as though I was a twinkie being catapulted towards their biting mouths.

Within the walls of Alexandria you can build things, upgrade your weapons and more but that’s about it. There’s no interaction as such you’re confined to your space of choosing between weapons and building stuff and the rest is just collecting items and killing zombies within hunts/story mode.

Ditching a good majority of gameplay for action as you hack, smash and shoot zombies to your hearts content.

Whilst seeing zombies arms quite literally dropping off is quite hilarious the first time it starts to wear thin as the game goes on that’s all you seem to be doing throughout the entire game. It wears a little thin after a good few chapters.

Norman Reedus was enlisted to help with the game and lended his face and voice to proceedings. Sadly other characters have completely different voices and this somewhat alienates my inner fanboy as it just feels like a bromance road trip of zombie slashing proportions with Norman Reedus.

As you can grab zombies by the throat and throw them around, or go for a quick grab and stab these provide moments of enjoyment for a horror nut like myself but that’s about it.

Your blade never wears out, there’s enough ammo dotted around the maps to make you think you were in an Army base and at no point is there a real danger or threat.

There’s nothing remotely scary and there’s no urgency to survive, unlike Saints and Sinners.

Whilst enjoyable for a brief amount of time sadly Walking Dead Onslaught wears thin pretty quickly.

It’s by no means a bad game but it’s a long way from competing with this year’s earlier Walking Dead release.

An ordinary pizza delivery leads to a night of chaos when a murderous psychopath targets a young couple who might be harboring a secret of their own.  Chop Chop will be available to rent or own October 20th on Amazon, iTunes, Comcast, Spectrum, Vudu and more.

Atala Arce and Jake Taylor star as the young couple whose attack by a murdering psychopath is only the beginning of a very dangerous night.

Chop Chop was directed and produced by Rony Patel, from a script he co-wrote with Andrew Ericksen.

Antrum was a feature length film shot in the late 1970’s, is said to be cursed.

In 1988, a movie theatre in Budapest that was screening the film burnt to the ground, killing the 56 people who were in attendance.

This incident follows the inexplicable deaths of a number of film festival programmers that had received Antrum as a submission and died shortly after watching it.

These events have created a belief that watching Antrum will kill you.

Believed to have been lost, a sole copy of the film was tracked down and packaged for public release. After a short 10 minute documentary which examines the dark history of the film, viewers are given the opportunity to watch the original version of this cursed film at their own risk.

The film revolves around a teenage girl and her young brother putting their dog to sleep for a violent act it committed. In an effort to save its soul, they enter a forest that contains “The Antrum”, the very spot that the devil landed when he was cast out of heaven.

There they begin to dig towards hell, and the deeper they dig the more dangerous the forest becomes. It has been observed that at this point in the film more malevolent events start happening to the audience watching it.

As a journalist has observed, “ANTRUM’s reputation is partially due to additional real-world events that took place as the actual film was being shown. When ANTRUM screened at Fanta Fest in Rome, the organisers brought in a priest to bless the theater.”

Antrum will be in UK Cinemas from 23rd October and DVD & Digital Download from 26th October
