Last month saw the release of ‘Paranormal Activity 4’ – just in time for the fright night fest of Halloween. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s still showing in many cinemas – read on to see if it’s one for you. The film is directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, who directed Paranormal Activity 3, and written by Zack Estrin.
The plot is a sequel to ‘Paranormal Activity 2’, and we start the film five years after the disappearance of Katie (Katie Featherston) and baby Hunter (William Juan Prieto). You may remember at the end of ‘Paranormal Activity 2’, Katie killed sister Krista and her husband Daniel before disappearing. In ‘Paranormal Activity 4’, we have moved five years forward and strange events start to happen in a neighbourhood when a woman and a mysterious child move in.
The story focuses on two siblings Alex (Kathryn Newton) and Wyatt (Aiden Lovekamp), Alex’s boyfriend Ben (Matt Shively) and a little boy called Robbie (Brady Allen) from across the street who acts strangely and keeps turning up in their treehouse. Things get weirder when Robbie’s mum is taken into hospital and Alex’s mum takes him in for a few days. Alex and Ben place laptops around the house to record the supernatural events taking place whenever Robbie is around.
Robbie spends lots of time with Alex’s little brother Wyatt and wants to keep secret from Alex what they get up to. Alex’s parents don’t seem to notice the evil presence that is growing around their family and their children.
Some critics have slammed the movie as only suitable viewing for die-hard fans of the ‘Paranormal Activity’ series of films. Check out cinema listings London if you want to see it and draw your own conclusions. You may look at new kids in the neighbourhood in a whole new light!
But the question remains who or what is Robbie? What are your thoughts?
