‘Chronicle’ star Alex Russell is the subject of today’s ‘Carrie’ related news. The Kimberly Peirce helmed remake has been slipping assets under our noses now for months on end but most of the focus up to this point has been on ‘Carrie’ herself and her deranged mother. However, a new still has been revealed featuring Russell in character as Billy Nolan, the role that was formerly filled by John Travolta in the 1976 original. The ‘Carrie’ redo stars Chloe Grace Moretz (‘Kick-Ass 2’), Julianne Moore (‘Hannibal’), Portia Doubleday (‘Youth in Revolt’), Ansel Elgort, Judy Greer (‘The Village’) and Brit hottie Gabriella Wilde. “The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.”
‘Carrie’ opens in the US on 18 October and will arrive here in the UK on 29 November.
