Crowdfunding success for Cyclamen Films STILL

By Peter 'Witchfinder' Hopkins on May 11, 2023 News

The award-winning script for STILL has successfully completed its crowdfunding campaign on Seed & Spark with a final amount raised of $18,682.

Production for STILL is scheduled to begin end of May 2023. The film stars Rakefet Abergel (Jax in Love, Boo, Shameless) as Aliya, a woman struggling with the realities of a tragic pregnancy loss.

“I suffered a miscarriage about a year and a half ago and it was heartbreaking. Still is about how hard it is to survive losing a child – a child you held or one you never met. It’s about how well-meaning words can feel empty, meaningless, and hurtful to someone suffering a loss,” said Abergel, who also wrote, and will produce and direct the film. “If you’ve lost a baby, I hope this film brings you healing and inspires understanding in others.”

STILL is the third film from Abergel’s production company, Cyclamen Films. Her first two films, Jax in Love and Boo, are currently streaming on various platforms including Amazon Prime, ALTER, BitPix, Bloody TV, and ShortsTV. They are also available on various Blu-ray and DVD anthologies.

The screenplay for STILL won the Shawna Spirit Award for Best Short Screenplay at the Shawna Shea Memorial Film Festival, as well as the Director’s Choice Award for Best Short Screenplay at Austin Revolution Film Festival. The script was also a finalist at Nightmares Film Festival and Filmquest in 2022.

STILL will also feature performances by Rachae Thomas (Life of a King with Cuba Gooding, Jr.), Cooper Tiberius Eakins, and Abergel’s real-life mother, Cena Abergel. Producers Rakefet Abergel & Joseph P. Stottmann hope the film is ready to hit the film festival circuit by August 2023. The teaser is available on Vimeo and on CyclamenFilms.com and a heartfelt pitch video message is available to watch here.

The campaign may be over but you can still help this project outside of the campaign page by donating by Venmo (@Rakefet) or via PayPal to PayPal.me/Rakefet. We can also accept Zelle payments. E-mail cyclamenfilms@gmail.com for more details.

All incentives and perks still apply!

Both the teaser and a heartfelt pitch video message from Abergel is available on the campaign site at http://www.seedandspark.com/fund/stillshortfilm so be sure to check this project out and if you can help it raise more funds.

Abergel will be donating funds to various child and pregnancy loss support organizations that adds up to 5% of the total amount raised.
