Guillermo del Toro has just signed a new publishing deal with the HarperCollins imprint William Morrow to write a new trilogy of vampire thrillers with veteran novelist Chuck Hogan. The first book entitled ‘The Strain’ will be in bookstores next Summer.
‘The Strain’ revolves around an invasion of New York City by a vampiric virus and the series of books will attempt to trace the roots of the vampiric race back to its Old Testament origins.
Del Toro himself is definitely a workaholic and is already attached to ‘The Hobbit’ for the next few years as well as a remake of ‘Frankenstein’, ‘Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’, and ‘Slaughterhouse-Five’ at Universal. He’s also pinned to ‘Drood’ – based on Dan Simmons’ novel. Let’s just hope Guillermo is not going to spread himself too thin.
The books will be published by HarperCollins here in the U.K., and a special edition will be published simultaneously by the company’s Spanish-language imprint, Rayo, in the U.S.
