Earlier this week reports were circulating that Danish director Christian E. Christiansen would be taking the reigns of the new ‘Hellraiser’ remake. But alas, according to Shock Till You Drop, it seems the directorial and scribing responsibilities will be in the hands of Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer – uh-oh. Lussier, director of the ‘Dracula 2001’ trilogy, ‘White Noise: The Light’ and ‘My Bloody Valentine’ is currently in post with ‘Drive Angry 3D’ starring Nicholas Cage and Amber Heard (below). Amber herself is apparently the studios prime suspect for a role in the remake so the fact that she’s worked with Lussier already is a good sign that she’ll likely hop her sweet ass on board.
The 1987 original ‘Hellraiser’ from Brit horror author and director Clive Barker is about a man who finds he is given more than he bargains for when he solves the puzzle of the Lament Configuration – a doorway to hell. But his ex-lover has found a way of bringing him back, and his niece, Kirsty Lawrence, finds herself bargaining with the Cenobites, angels to some, demons to others, whose greatest pleasure is the greatest pain.
On a more positive note it seems the long-spun rumour of a possible PG-13 rumour may be quashed forever.
